Donation of Essential Supplies Completed Across All Prisons in Myanmar
Tokyo, Japan — International Non-governmental Organization PEACE. (ingo PEACE.) has become the first civil society organization to officially visit prisons in Myanmar, conducting a humanitarian initiative to donate hygiene supplies aimed at improving living conditions for inmates.
This activity, carried out in cooperation with the independent domestic institution Myanmar National Human Rights Commission (MNHRC), involved the direct delivery of essential items such as soap and sanitary products for women. The initiative represents a concrete effort to uphold human dignity and safeguard health in prison facilities.
By implementing this project, ingo PEACE. embodies its core principle: to protect the dignity of all people regardless of their circumstances, while continuing to promote respect for human rights and social inclusion.

Starting from the Harshest Places
Going forward, ingo PEACE. will collaborate with MNHRC to introduce human rights awareness programs in prisons that house large numbers of political prisoners. Many inmates have been detained for participating in demonstrations against poverty and inequality. Our initiative seeks to provide opportunities for these individuals to reaffirm their inherent human dignity and basic rights.
In addition, to address severe shortages of essentials such as soap and sanitary pads in women’s prisons—conditions that have fueled the spread of infectious diseases—ingo PEACE. has expanded its support to include comprehensive hygiene aid, the provision of educational materials, and supplies for learning environments, thereby contributing to the foundation for social reintegration.
Activity Report
On July 31, 2025, ingo PEACE. became the first civil society organization to officially visit a prison in Myanmar, donating hygiene supplies such as sanitary products and soap for 6,240 inmates at Insein Central Prison. This was followed on August 5, 2025, by the donation of supplies for 24,000 inmates at Mandalay Obo Prison. With these efforts, ingo PEACE. has now completed the donation of support supplies to all prisons across Myanmar. Going forward, in partnership with the Myanmar National Human Rights Commission (MNHRC), ingo PEACE. will expand opportunities for human rights education in prison facilities nationwide.

Background
Myanmar’s prisons have been severely affected by shortages caused by international sanctions, leading to deteriorating sanitary conditions. ingo PEACE. views the protection of human rights for the most vulnerable as a top priority within its mission of building a Coexistence-based Social Model where “all lives can live in safety.”
This initiative represents a new model of cross-border human rights support, linking humanitarian aid to systemic change.

Future Outlook
Building on the trust established through this initiative, a formal meeting with the Myanmar National Human Rights Commission (MNHRC) was convened, marking the start of official discussions. Moving forward, ingo PEACE. plans to implement support activities under this cooperative framework, including educational programs and hygiene awareness campaigns inside prisons to aid rehabilitation and social reintegration. In addition, the distribution of human rights textbooks and training sessions for government officials, military academies, and police schools are planned as part of ongoing efforts to promote human rights.
