The United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR) reported that, since early February, 35,000 people have arrived in Burundi to escape attacks by Rwanda-backed M23 soldiers advancing in the Democratic Republic of the Congo. In response, the United Nations World Food Programme (WFP) has resumed food assistance to parts of Goma, an areas occupied by M23, with aid efforts being urgently ramped up.
